Research

One field of research of the Institute of Construction Technologies and Management at TU Darmstadt is portfolio development of housing cooperatives. The issue of affordable and demand-oriented housing is of especially high socio-political relevance. Housing cooperatives in particular aim to offer their members adequate living space. The structural and technical condition of a lot of existing buildings in the portfolio of housing cooperatives no longer meets current requirements. Therefore, these portfolios have to be appropriately adapted in the field of tension between modernization and redensification. Within the scope of the research work, a process model for the sustainable further development of the housing portfolio of housing cooperatives is being developed.
